The San Francisco Bay Cities Quartet Chapter is a small, but amazing group. More than half our members can sing other than their 'designated' one. How many chapters can say that? At our most recent meeting at Harry's Hofbrau, this Tuesday evening, Dave Laubscher, Dave Tuttelman, Steve Gummersall, Bill Beck, and Dan Heckerman switched their parts several times, as we sang the BarberPole Cat songs. We were cheered on by Jan Petrinovics, Sarah Gummersall, Sieg and Ruth Yoder. Bill Beck brought books of over 100 tags for us to use, and we closed our meeting singing ones we'd never done before! John Heather manages our website (www.sfbayquartets.org), so if you want to read about our adventures between WESTUNES editions, type it into your browser.

Bill Beck and Dennis Baker joined us this week, Dennis traveling about 170 miles to do so. We sang tags that some of us had never seen before. Bruce Bunting and David Tuttelman showed their versatility by taking turns singing different parts in a few quartets. John Heather and his wife Bess, Steve Gummersall and his wife Sara, Dave Laubscher and Jan Petrinovics, Sieg Yoder and his wife Ruth all shared in our bi-monthly meeting at Harry’s Hofbrau. Roman Avila, our Music VP, led us in a few group songs, and helped improve our singing technique, as usual. When the strains from the banjo players down the hall started to be heard in our meeting room, closing our door solved any musical intrusion. We meet for lunch as The Harmony For Lunch Bunch on the 1st Wednesday each month, and the 2nd and 4th Wednesday evenings for our regular supper-time meetings. Come bust a chord with us at Harry’s, 390 Saratoga Avenue, in San Jose. Call Jordan Makower 408-735-8515 for more information.

At the request of his family, a SFBC Chapter quartet sang at Bob Jackson's "Celebration of Life" on December 29, 2011, in Walnut Creek CA. Bob was a founding member of the SFBC Quartet Chapter, and also sang with the San Jose chorus for more than 20 years.
The quartet members were Roman Avila, Mike Irvin, Dave Laubscher, and Steve Gummersall. Bob's son and grandson joined in for some very delightful "Woodshedding."
The quartet performance was well received. A great time was had by all!
