RETURN

February 1st

This luncheon meeting, (the first Wednesday of each month) at Harry’s Hofbrau, in San Jose, was packed with 28 people, including guests Harry and Pat Dahlberg, who were invited by Mike Irvin.  Of course, no invitation is ever necessary. Regulars Steve and Sara Gummersall, Dave Laubscher and Jan Petrinovics, Roman Avila, Sieg Yoder, Paul Freudenthal, and Jordan Makower, were greeted by Dr. Lee Nicholas, Bill Beck, Bruce Bunting, Dan Heckerman, Marv and Lois Bertelson, and Mark and Carol Hildebrand. Marv celebrated his 54th year as a barbershopper! Most of the guys took turns singing lead, bass, bari and tenor; the rest of us were challenged to learn other parts.  After the meeting closed, a few people stuck around to say that they had a really good time.  If you’d like to join us, for HFLB or at the alternate Wednesday dinner meetings, please call Jordan (408-735-8515) and leave a message; we’ll be glad to see you.

 Events & News

February 22, 2012

Steve Sammonds visited us and joined in the singing today. Steve was FWD District VP for many years, and is now serving BHS in a few other roles, one as an ambassador of good will. We received name tags for seven of our members, including 5 new to our roster: Bill Beck, Dan Heckerman, Lee Nicholas, Mark Hildebrand, Marv Bertelson.  We were missing our regular basses, Roman Avila and Mike Irvin. Mike is recovering from pneumonia, and will be out for several more weeks. Bill Beck, in what is becoming his forte, taught us three tags. As usual, our members took turns trying out different singing parts: David Tuttelman, Dave Laubscher, and Steve Gummersall (our President) supported our quartets.  We welcome people wanting to practice quartet singing at dinner time (5:30 – 7), at Harry’s Hofbrau in San Jose, on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month, and we sponsor the Harmony For Lunch Bunch, in the same place, on the 1st Wednesdays, from 11:30 – 1 PM. For more information, call Jordan Makower at (408) 735-8515, and leave a message for a return call.
